Come, Come Ye Saints. Anonymous. Traditional. Published. 1851. Description. This hymn text was written by William Clayton, who was inspired by the existing hymn "All Is Well" and his experiences travelling to Utah as one of the Mormon Pioneers. They, the early members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, gathered from around the world and walked across the American plains to find a new home in the West where they could live their religion without persecution. They settled and colonized much of what is now the state of Utah and although the bitter persecution of the past has, for the most part, been replaced with understanding and respect, for members of the Church throughout the world the hymn "Come, Come Ye Saints" continues to represent their heritage of faith and sacrifice.
