Taking as their starting point the notes of the harmonic series, the duets become progressively more challenging without making unreasonable demands in terms of range and technique, allowing the pupil to gain security in the middle register. The teacher's supportive accompanying parts will inspire confidence and give the student a valuable introduction to ensemble playing. Gordon Carr studied at the Royal Academy of Music under Barry Tuckwell and has since played with all major London orchestras, also performing as a soloist both in Britain and abroad.
