Jindrich Feld. 1925-2007. , one of the outstanding Czech composers of the 20th century, studied composition and musicology at the Academy of Music and the Charles University in Prague and taught at the Prague Conservatoire as professor of composition from 1972-86. After the democratization of the Czech Republic, he took part in many music associations and committees and since 1992 was the director of the music department of the Czech Radio for a few years. His comprehensive oeuvre comprises above all orchestral and chamber music works.
