Dramatic and sweeping, this work is based on folk music of the middle east, where the composer lived as a boy. Some of the material is traditional folk music and some is original material created by Dr. Chobanian in the same style. This is a well balanced three-movement work that uses the entire band to its full effect. Frequent meter changes, double and triple tonguing in the brass will make this work challenging.
