Paul Wranitzky was born in 1756, Mozart's birth year, in Nova Rise. Moravia. , and died in Vienna in 1808, one year before Haydn. He was one of the most renowned musicians in Europe and was without any doubt also an important point of reference in Vienna's musical life around the turn of the century. A celebrated violinist and composer as well as an enterprising businessman, he was supported by Viennese nobility and was highly regarded also at court. Thanks to his strong personality he was in constant and lively exchange with the two geniuses of Viennese Classicism. Thus, he made a decisive contribution to the rise of the young Beethoven. At the time of its creation his music was very popular thanks to its memorable melodies and its brilliant style. He created a substantal body of instrumental music - 45 symphonies, 40 string quartets, more than 18 string quintets and more than 30 string trios. almost exclusively scores for violin, viola and cello. The three trios opus number 3 are remarkable in their absolute mastery of the genre in terms of poise, formal variety and wealth of ideas. The result is a score extremely rich in content, all three instruments being treated equally.
