Level 4. Set of 16 octavos with rhythm parts. Published by UNC Jazz Press. NC.VJ2276. A great modal latin setting of the familiar Ravel theme. First chorus - unison women for first eight, two-part second eight with men in counterpoint to the melody in the women, harmonized bridge, two-part into 5-way harmony for last ten measures. Second chorus features salsa-like choral rhythmic punctuations under sustained melody, modal parallel chords in bridge. Improv solo third chorus with two-part background. This piece features a powerful 5 and 6-way shout section over an ostinato bass in fourth chorus, swing eighth bridge leads back to original melody. The ending concludes with a forte tag fading to a sustained last chord. SSATBB choral score with keyboard synth, bass and drum parts.
