This translation from the German and arrangement for mezzosoprano or baritone solo and SATB voices has all the charm of Humperdinck's opera Hansel and Gretel. Performance notes by the arranger on various instrumental possibilities are valuable, and the suggestion of the recorded version on Rediscovered Masterpieces, CD-515, would be well worthwhile.
